Introduction

Mid-Hudson APICS respects your privacy and has developed this privacy and data policy to inform you about how we manage your personal information and the part that you play in the process.

Overview

You take privacy seriously, and so does Mid-Hudson APICS. It's our way of sustaining your trust in us and our services.

Personal information means any information recorded in any form about an individual whose identity may be inferred or determined from such information. Personal information includes and is similar to your name, birthdate, USA Social Security Number, addresses, telephone numbers, facsimile numbers, e-mail addresses, social media identifiers, professional designations, occupation, employer contact information, dates of affiliation, membership involvement preferences, event registration and attendance, continuing professional education records, electronic signature, and credit card numbers and expiration dates.

In this policy, we summarily refer to Mid-Hudson APICS as "we", "us”, “our”, and “the Chapter”.

Part 2: Our Part

Receiving and Collecting Personal Information:
We Don't Collect Information That We Don't Need

It is our policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we collect.

From APICS

We receive some of your personal information from APICS if you are an affiliate of our Chapter and we can see some but not all of the personal information that you have given to APICS.

We do not have access to your USA Social Security Number even though you may have provided it to APICS when you became a member.

From E-Mail

We collect your personal information when you give it to us by:

  • Registering for an event using e-mail
  • Viewing e-mails from us and clicking links in them

From the Website - Personal Information Collection

We collect your personal information when you give it to us by:

  • Registering for an event using e-mail
  • Submitting the Signing Up for E-Mail form

We do not store your credit card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes.

From the Website - Analytics Information Collection

In an effort to improve visitors’ experiences on our website, we gather information related to individuals’ website visits. This information is used solely to measure and improve this website and to better serve our chapter members and visitors. Our analysis uses aggregate statistical data to analyze activity.  The gathered information includes:

  • Device and network specific information, such as your unique device identifier, operating system and version, the browser you use, your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  • Non-personal information, such as language, location, and the time zone. 
  • Website visit information, such as the domain from which you came to our website or referring links, and details of how you use our website, including, but not limited to, what webpages you visit on the website, as well as downloads during the duration of your visit.

From the Website - Cookies and Page Tags

We don’t use cookies.

We use page tags to track information related to user visits as a part of our data analytics processes and user experience customization. Page tags are small pieces of JavaScript embedded in webpages that collect data to help track web traffic on our website. This technology enables us to improve and customize user experiences while users visit our website. We use a third party data analytics firm to track and analyze traffic on the website, to analyze visitor trends, and to determine browser types and usage trends.

Other internet sites or services that may be accessible through our site or that we may avail of have separate data and privacy practices independent of us. We disclaim any responsibility or liability for their policies or for their content or information collection practices.

Links from our website to third-party sites do not constitute our endorsement of the parties or their products and services.

Social Media

On our LinkedIn Company Page [https://www.linkedin.com/company/mid-hudson-chapter-of-apics-inc-], we cannot see information about who is following us.

On our LinkedIn Group [https://www.linkedin.com/groups/8157114], we can see your personal LinkedIn information if you are a member of the group.

On our Facebook page [https://www.facebook.com/midhapics], we cannot see your personal Facebook information if you Like us or view our page, but we can see your personal Facebook information if you:

  • Post something to our timeline
  • Message us

We receive your personal information if you submit the Join Email List form.

In our Twitter account [https://twitter.com/MidHudsonAPICS], we can see your personal information if you follow us.

Administration

We use PayPal [https://www.paypal.com] to process credit card transactions.

  • We process nothing to send to PayPal. Instead, we invoke the PayPal transaction on the PayPal site. When you click the PayPal button, you leave the Mid-Hudson APICS website, open a PayPal transaction, and conduct all processing with the PayPal application set on the secure PayPal web address https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr.
  • Unless you have a PayPal account, you are required to enter your credit card number, expiration, date, and security code each time you pay since we do not store this information on our website. Of course, we transmit your entire credit card number, expiration date, and security code to PayPal during order processing.

We use iContact [https://www.icontact.com/] for our market research, to store our mailing lists, to compose and send e-mail notices and to compose, send, and tabulate the results of surveys.

Our mailing lists contain names and e-mail addresses. We have three e-mail lists:

  • One that contains information about our Mid-Hudson APICS affiliates and friends
  • One that contains information about our friends from the American Society for Quality, Mid-Hudson Section 0302
  • One that contains information about the Chapter presidents from the APICS Northeast District

USING AND SHARING PERSONAL INFORMATION:
WE RESPECT YOUR PRIVACY

If you choose to share any personal information with us, we may store it, and use to fulfill our objectives which include:

  • Communicating with and determining the needs of our affiliates, including marketing research
  • Maintaining affiliate lists and contact information
  • Providing products, services, and information to our affiliates
  • Managing our relationships with our affiliates

We hold your personal information in strict confidence:

  • We endeavor to maintain appropriate physical, procedural, and technical security with respect to personal information storage, destruction, and disposal to prevent its loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, or modification.
  • We restrict access to personal information to the Chapter leaders and contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

We don’t rent it to, sell it to, or trade it with third parties.

We only share this information with third parties when the third party is:

  • An instructor teaching or a speaker presenting a Mid-Hudson APICS event and you have registered to attend the event.
  • An organization that is offering us a plant tour, they require it as a condition for admission to their facilities, and you have registered to attend the tour.
  • PayPal, and you select to pay for an event using its service.
  • iContact, and you are on our mailing lists.
  • APICS, but not other APICS chapters.
  • One for whom we have your specific consent.
  • Another local chapter of another professional society in the context of a joint event.

DISCLOSING PERSONAL INFORMATION

We may need to disclose your personal information:

  • When required by law to comply with a judicial proceeding, a court order, or a legal process served on us.
  • To prevent or investigate a possible crime, such as fraud or identity theft.
  • To enforce our policies, agreements, terms, and conditions including the collection of amounts owed to us.
  • To protect the rights, property, and safety of our Chapter, our affiliates, or others, against harm (actual or potential) including but not limited to fraudulent or abusive use of electronic resources.
  • To a third party organization in connection with a merger, reorganization, dissolution, or similar corporate event. If such an event occurs, the third party’s use of your personal information will still be subject to this privacy policy.

Part 3: Your Part

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

While we use reasonable means and do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security your electronic transmissions and any information that you transmit to us, and you use our website at your own risk.

You are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of any passwords and other account information.

If you suspect your personal information has been compromised, notify us using the form in Problem Reporting.

As with any Internet transmission that is not encrypted, the risk of disclosure to unintended third parties exists. Please be aware of this risk when providing information via unencrypted channels.

YOUR CONSENT

By using our website and submitting requested personal information through our website and e-mail, you consent to the collection and use of this information, along with non-personally identifiable information, in the manner described in this policy.

Affiliation with the Chapter explicitly includes the presumption that you will receive unsolicited e-mails from the Chapter on subject of interest to its members. Those who are not affiliates of the Chapter but provide their e-mail addresses implicitly accept the same presumption.

CHANGING AND REMOVING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We use reasonable efforts to keep an accurate record of any information submitted by any visitor through our web site or through e-mail but we are not responsible for verifying the continued accuracy of this information.

We do not have a process by which you can review your personal information that we have on file. However, if you have a change in personal information and would like to update our information, please contact us. In your request, clearly state what information you want to change or update.

You can opt-out of the use of your personal information and non-personally identifiable information as described in this policy by notifying us using the information in Contact Us. We will remove your information from our mailing list immediately.

You can opt-out of receiving our e-mails by clicking the Unsubscribe link in an e-mail. We will remove your information from our mailing list immediately.

If you resign from APICS either by notifying them or by not renewing your membership, you must contact us separately if you want us to remove your information from our mailing list.

Part 4: Administration

POLICY MODIFICATIONS

We keep a change log as part of this privacy policy.

We maintain a privacy policy last update date on the home page of our website as part of the link to the policy.

We reserve the right to change this policy at any time. If we do, we will:

  • Send an e-mail to our mailing lists at least five business days before the change is effective
  • Post a new privacy policy last updated date

Changes to this privacy policy are effective when we post the revised privacy policy on our website. Your use of our website following these changes means that you accept the revised privacy policy.

Governing Law

Any claim relating to this policy and our web site are governed by the laws of New York State.
